In Kenya is de grootste coupure 1000 Kenian Shilling (om en bij de 10 euro). Vandaag koop ik een auto van een particulier en heb zonder checkbook geen andere keuze dan de 140.000 ksh in cash mee te nemen. De verhalen over straatcriminaliteit in Nairobi zijn zwaar overdreven, maar ik zal me toch niet helemaal op mijn gemak voelen met deze sopranos-hoop in mijn zakken.
